Passover Cakes and Cookies

Hello March! Seems this year is off to a speedy start and Passover is no exception. We're used to getting Passover orders in April but here, not even mid-March yet, they're starting to trickle in. For anyone who is not near a calendar, the beginning of Passover is just two weeks away!

We do offer two types of cakes and a couple cookies for Passover, all made without traditional flour. Let's start with my favorite, the Strawberry Banana Passover cake.

Let me be honest here. I actually had a taste of this cake for the first time last year. I don't celebrate the holiday and we rarely ever have slices offered so last year when it was available I quickly sliced a piece for myself. I was mind-blown! I never thought I could have cake made without traditional flour that could taste THIS good. The sponge itself is made with matzo meal (which does contain gluten though), potato flour and - the best part - fresh bananas. The ripe bananas is the flavor that really carried throughout and with fresh strawberries, fresh bananas and fresh whipped cream as the filling, I regret that we don't make this cake more often! But it is a Passover exclusive so if you're interested, do come in the store before April 2!

For chocolate lovers, we offer our Chocolate Orange Passover Torte or Cream. Both cakes are made with the same sponge; sponge that is made from potato flour and crushed almonds. It can either be ordered as a Torte in which we only place fresh oranges and strawberries on top, or it can be ordered as a Cream in which we cover it in whipped cream.

We'll also be making our Almond Macaroons, which are also exclusive to this holiday. Made with almond paste, these cookies do not contain flour either. We offer a plain (pictured left) as well as chocolate flavor (pictured middle).

Our day-to-day Coconut Macaroons (pictured right) also are flourless and available to order.
